Géraldine Cario

Géraldine Cario is a multidisciplinary artist based in Paris, France. Her artistic inquiries navigate the intricate balance between opposing forces such as memory versus oblivion and chaos versus harmony. Cario’s use of diverse materials aims to spark existential reflection and dialogue. Her collection of portable cameras dating back to the 1930s serves as silent witnesses to meaningful stills of reality captured by strangers. These cameras accompany Cario as she engages deeply with the very essence of photography as a medium. Through her seemingly abstract works, she offers a unique perspective on collective memory at an emotional level, inviting us to use our intuition to connect as individuals in the present.

Her solo exhibitions include “Paris-Odessa” at the Institut Français & Goethe Institut, Bucharest, Romania, in January-February 2024, and at Le Bastion, Timișoara, România, as part of “Timisoara, European Capital of Culture”, in 2023; “Les hasards nécessaires” at the Institut Français, Tel-Aviv, Israel, June-July 2023.

EdB Contemporary, a cultural space in Venice, will host a solo exhibition of Géraldine’s works from April to September 2024, coinciding with the Venice Biennale.
